Q. What is a Quality Enhancement Plan?

A. This is a major new requirement for re-accreditation by SACS. It is a focused course of action, must be based on empirical data, is used to enhance student learning and employs a forward looking approach. The QEP is aimed at undergraduate or graduate education that transforms campus culture and is measurable and accountable.

Q. What is our Quality Enhancement Plan?

A.  Virginia Tech's Quality Enhancement Plan is entitled "Invent Your Future".  Its purpose is to enhance student learning through a first-year experience that encourages thoughtful academic planning, enhances research skills, and builds intercultural knowledge and understanding.

Within the above framework, a new 12-person QEP implementation committee has proposed three main QEP goals and associated learning outcomes (see the QEP Background page for details).

  • Encouraging Thoughtful Academic Planning
  • Enhancing Research Skills
  • Building Intercultural Knowledge and Understanding
